Types of Power Entry Modules

Power entry modules are categorized by the functions they integrate and how they mount into your panel or chassis. Here are the primary types to understand.

Basic Power Entry Modules

Basic modules provide a standardized IEC inlet - typically an IEC 60320 connector such as a C14 or C6 - without additional filtering or switching.

EMI Filtered Power Entry Modules

Filtered power entry modules integrate passive EMI/RFI filters - networks of inductors and capacitors - directly into the module housing. EMI filters reduce electromagnetic interference in electronic devices, while RFI filters suppress radio frequency interference in power systems.

Switched Power Entry Modules

Switched modules include an integrated on/off switch - single or double pole - for convenient power control without unplugging the cord. Models like the DBI5 with fuse and rocker switch combine power entry with switching in a single opening.

Fused Power Entry Modules

Fused modules feature an integrated fuse holder for overcurrent protection. Fuses in power entry modules can be one-pole or two-pole for different circuit protection requirements, typically accepting standard 5×20 mm fuse cartridges.

Medical Grade Power Entry Modules
